Marcus and Terran Gary, chaging lives one ''eight count'' at a time.

 

Terran Noir Gary:

Founder of SubRoy Studios,  a professional dance development company, where it's students seek professional careers in dance and SubRoy prepares them for such. Terran, whom also holds the title, Entertainment Coordinator, for the NBA team Memphis Grizzlies where she is responsible for 5 entertainment teams which perform pre-game, during time outs, & half time of the games played at the FedEx Forum located on historic Beale St., started dancing at birth and has danced for the National Championship team of the U of M Pom Squad, Memphis Red Birds, TN Titans, & Memphis Grizzlies where she's currently employed and has been for 6 years. Terran's goals for her company is a bit different from other dance companies her primary goal is to equip dancers with the neccasry skills and knowledge to have a successful dance career in a highly competitive dance industry.  

 

Marcus "Whop" Gary:

SubRoy is also home to Jookin in Memphis which is operated by Marcus "Whop" Gary.  Affectionally known by Whop, Daddy Gary, Big Brugh, mentor, Boss Man, uncle, or a dot connector in the community takes pride in the accomplishments of SubRoy and the huge role that it plays in the movement and recognition  of Memphis dance. He's like that basketball coach that opens the gym for shoot around, he picks up dancers for performances, encourages them in hard times, and challenges them to give their best at all times. Marcus, is co-founder of MUD (Memphis Urban Dance) which consistes of SubRoy, Memfest, & U Dig Dance Academy. 

With strong ties to the community of Memphis style street dance, Whop is currently the Commissioner of the World Jookin Federation, (WJF) which is a competition ring for the Jookin Community of Memphis. Title Boxing belts are in rotation in this arena. There's the Tag Team, Queen of Memphis, & King of Memphis belts competed for. Also, group matches. 

Whop organized World Jookin Federation to give our youth a positive outlet and a platform to compete artistically. His efforts have been recognized an applauded by New York Times  chief critic Alastair Macaulay. 'See the link on our "jookin" page'

 

Along with juggling the joys and strains of the dance world, they are also parents to the beautiful and talented 5 year old Miguela Gary.
